More About Leon

Leon Bridges is a 42 year veteran to the Haleyville Fire Department. During his some 42 years he has served as Chief of the Haleyville Fire Department for fifteen years, assistant chief, Lieutenant and Captain for the fire department.

Leon was trained by Captain Drake. During his time on the Haleyville Fire Department and the training received, Leon generously shared his knowledge and passed it on. Haleyville was called to a fully involved fire and told that a young child was inside the house. In a short time he returned out of the smoke and flames with the child in under his fire coat, the child was upset, but fine.

Soon after this, Haleyville Fire Department was called out again to Norris Tire Company. In a short amount of time, Haleyville was joined by four other fire departments. During this fire, a wall fell just missing eight firefighters. There were no injuries, this was due to the quick commands of Leon to "pull out".

Over the years, Leon ha seen a lot of changes in the Haleyville Fire Department. They have grown from a small two bay department into a four bay department, growing from three fire trucks to eight fire trucks.

It may sound like am bragging about my father-in-law, but you see, I can, because I was one of the eight firefighters saved from the falling wall.
